Note: (January 13, 2024) the following information is what I found on Reddit. It’s not reflective of my own advice since I have not started the program yet, although I may add to or change what’s already here as I progress through the program.
While you wait to start, go on the WGU Facebook groups, Reddit, or the WGU business / Accounting groups and search the classes by their course number. Make yourself a word doc with all the tips other students have given. It's very useful to know what they're saying, especially when they say you can complete a course in a few days (usually the classes that have PAs).
There's a YouTube channel called the Nerd Dad Extraordinare who completed the program and gives you a run down on EVERY CLASS.
When you start a course, look for the Course Resources doc. This document will have cohorts assigned to lessons or units, and it'll also show you the weight of each unit on the final OA. Knowing the weight of each unit on the final will give you an indication of what you really need to make sure you know for the OA.
The course resource documents provided in each course are your KEY to success. If you are able to answer the practice questions you WILL pass the OA. The cohorts are also very helpful to refresh after reading and taking notes on textbooks.
After you go through the course material and take pre-assessment, study the areas you're not competent in (especially the areas with more weight). The pre-assessments for some courses are very close to the OAs, so also study the pre-assessment and breakdown the questions and answers. Check the student tips and comments to find out which courses are those.
To actually absorb information and become knowledgeable in accounting principles and concepts, expect to spend 4-5 weeks per class on the intermediate series. People will advise you to skip through textbooks for these courses, DO NOT.

Follow the rubric on those courses that require a PA (writing assignment or power point & video presentation). Don't write too much, make it nice and short, and just answer the question asked. Watch the videos explaining what you need to do. Usually they'll tell you, "don't write too much". Again, follow the rubric, as that's what they use to judge the work.
The classes that require a task vs an exam can be done fairly quickly (1-2 weeks max).
The capstone is super easy and can be done within 1 week.

The excel portions are almost always identical to the final test.
Do the chapter tests. They aren't long, and they'll help you understand the areas you need to focus on.
